Engagment Party Protocal
The engagement party is the first time you are together formally as this forever couple, which binds you to your families and close friends. Most importantly, it is probably one of the last few endearing moments you will share as a couple before the hectic plans begin for that big day.
A few engagement party etiquette rules are very clear. The future bride and groom should greet guests at the door and once the celebration begins, the bride's father or the host of the celebration sets the mood with the very first toast. The groom-to-be is next with a small tribute to his fiancé, her parents, and then finally his mom and dad. The engaged couple should also give thanks to the party hosts (Martha Stewart Living, 2002). These formalities establish tradition and the party's underlying themes, which are love, family, and the future and celebrating the couples decision to be wed.
